The George: A Full Service Upscale Boutique Hotel, Coming to College Station in Fall 2016
With great anticipation, Valencia Group and Midway are making a mark deep in the heart of Texas with their newest hotel brand, The George™. Located in the center of the Century Square development on the Texas A&M campus, this 162 room luxury hotel will bring an authentic, refined and local experience to the Brazos Valley region.
A full service hotel whose presence will anchor Century Square, The George™ is comprised of large community lounge areas both inside and out and intimate settings such as it’s craft cocktail bar, restaurant and wine bar as well as a 5,000 square foot flexible ballroom that connects to the main plaza of Century Square. This hotel will have a Texas sized porch that surrounds a modern version of a “local swimming hole” where guests can seamlessly stroll under the covered porch which is equipped with rocking and gliding chairs and relax under the canopy of trees surrounding the pool at the many fire pits and picnic tables.
While The George™ embraces the region’s southern hospitality, the hotel will offer an abstract, contemporary aesthetic and art installations that are rooted in the agriculture and mechanical community while paying subtle homage to the region’s railway station, the town’s namesake. The “Refined Rustic” design The George Hotel, college station hotel is a modern yet warm blend of hard wood floors, exposed ceilings and brick accents in the interiors. Every aspect of the hotel is crafted with authentic and regional details using design, art, style and culture to infuse this new property with all the amenities and services of a top-luxury hotel, while simultaneously working to maintain a distinct sense of place.
The George™ name is a subtle nod to the many famous Georges throughout history who helped changed industry or history whether it be music, energy, film, photography and agriculture. Most notably to the immediate region is a nod to George H. Bush, whose presidential library is at Texas A&M University, and George Mitchell, who is considered one of the most successful Texas A&M former students. The name “George” has both an English elegance and Southern connotation to the name, which is consistent with the hotel’s design.
